Topshop isn’t the only brand that is trying to create some buzz.
You know those days when you’re thinking, “It’s so hot, I really should have worn shorts!” Or what about when you’re in daisy dukes, but the temp suddenly drops, leaving you freezing? Well, those days are gone and you never have to fully commit to just jeans or shorts ever again. Opening Ceremony is selling Y/Project detachable pants that turn into shorts. From jeans to khaki, the trousers have cut-outs with buttons attached, so all you have to do is remove and viola, you have shorts!
While the jeans sound super practical, they’re really not. Some of the pants don’t button all the way around, leaving a strange cut out for your cheeks – meaning, they’re definately not going to help you feel warm if there’s a breeze!
“These 2-in-1 Y/Project trousers come in a straight-leg silhouette with slim-fitting, detachable shorts that feature high-rise cutouts along the front,” reads the description of a denim pair.
It’s not just pants you can make into short shorts. They also have a romper available.
“Y/Project’s Second Skin Jumpsuit in deep fuchsia is made from smooth, lustrous velvet and features a plunging neckline and an open back with criss-cross straps,” reads the website. “Detachable legs are fastened together with self-tie strings that can be tightened to create a ruched effect.”
If you think that’s not bad enough – we’re not done. They also have “strap jeans,” which we’re still completely confused to what exactly they are. The pants have little jean at the top (really, it’s a denim belt), and are hooked with garters.
“Y/Project’s garter-inspired jeans come in a deconstructed style with adjustable denim straps held together by a series of silver-tone O-rings along the front and back. Buttons fasten down the front allowing for the wearer to adjust to their liking.”
We question what someone’s “liking” would be for this look. Check them and more detachable pants available below.
